I know I share a lot of sunrises and beach days on insta, but I think it’s important to share the working on the weekend days too. Working weekends, nights, dropping plans to say yes to opportunities is the reality of running your own business. Social media often skews representation of all the freedom self employment can bring but the reality is your own business stops with you and you alone hold the responsibility for its success. And this is a 24/7 gig.

Running your own business can bring amazing freedoms but so can being employed by someone else, inspite of the entrepreneurial glamorising that is popular online. Whatever path you choose you will trade certain freedoms for other restrictions.

This weekend I was planning to chill a bit but instead I’m writing a workshop ready to deliver on short notice. This workshop will help those organisations that look after our elders manage change so our elderly parents and grandparents can get the care they want, need and deserve as they age in this crazily morphing world of ours.

I believe in what I’m doing and the service I’m providing. I love the depth of one on one coaching. But I really love the connection and capacity for change that workshops allow. Running workshops is my favourite part of my work. So I said yes to this workshop which means no to chill and my only free weekend for the next month is no longer free. So if you’re considering ditching your 9-5 with sick pay and holiday leave for the entrepreneurial path please remember it’s not all sunrises and beach breaks. I’m okay with that, would you be?
